GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR IS ASSISTING SPHERION WITH RECRUITMENT FOR CALL CENTER IN COLUMBUS.

ATLANTA, GA -- The following information was released by the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL):

The Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center is helping Spherion, a local staffing agency, fill about 100 job openings for customer service representatives at a call center in Columbus. Interviews will be scheduled for job applicants on Wednesday or Thursday, April 13-14.

Due to U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old. They must also have a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, at least six months customer service experience, basic computer and keyboarding skills, type at least 35 words a minute, and be willing to work a flexible schedule.

The company will conduct drug screening tests and extensive background and credit checks on applicants back to age 18 prior to hiring. Entry-level salary is $8 an hour.

Prior to visiting the Columbus Career Center for an interview with the company, applicants must go on-line to the company's Website at www.spherion.com to fill-out applications and basic skills tests. If assistance is needed to complete the application process, job seekers should call the company at (706) 571-2400. But, if computer/internet access is needed by the applicants, they may visit the career center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. to receive this service.

Once applicants have completed the on-line application process, they should contact the career center's Employment Services Unit at (706) 649-7423 to schedule appointments. Applicants should bring to the interview verification of on-line applications, documentation of educational background, two forms of identification, and resumes.
