QLD:South Bank closes, sightseers urged to go

BRISBANE, Jan 12 AAP - Sightseers are being warned to stay away from South Bank Parklands,
which was closed on Wednesday morning as floodwaters continue to rise.

The Brisbane River breached its banks at the popular tourist spot on Tuesday afternoon.

Since then, many areas of South Bank have become dangerous or inaccessible.

Already, Russell St, between the Queensland Performing Arts Complex (QPAC) and the
new ABC headquarters, is covered with water.
